Artist Research: Will Eisner
Will Eisner was an American cartoonist and graphic novelist widely regarded as on of the greatest innovators and storytellers in the comic book industry. He was born in 1917 in New York City and died in 2005 at the age of 87. Eisner's career in comics began in the 1930s when he created "The Spirit", a masked detective comic strip that ran for more than a decade and is considered a landmark in the history of American comics. The spirit was known for its innovative storytelling techniques, use of shading and perspective, and mature themes.

Eisner is best known for his graphic novel "A Contract with God", published in 1978 . This book, which is often considered the first graphic novel, broke new ground by exploring serious themes and narratives outside of the superhero genre. Eisner used distinctive art style of sequential art, characterized by clear storytelling, dynamic figure work and innovative panel layouts. Eisner's use of sequential art to tell personal stories about ordinary people revolutionized the comics industry and influenced a generation of cartoonists and graphic novelists.

Okay but a few things to edit here - firstly, ALWAYS include references for your images and sources. Secondly, and most importantly, how is Eisner's work influencing what you do? I suggested Eisner because I thought how he COMPOSES his panels and the DYNAMISM in his work would help you as well as his character drawings. What did you get out of this research?
