Final Development of "The sinister Octavia"
In this blog post, we will dive into the fascinating world of designing the villainess and the process behind creating her. Join me on this creative journey as we explore the steps involved in bringing an imaginative concept to life from quick sketch in a sketch book to the digital platform.
{Previously, I lost my digital files for every character, therefore I had to remake the characters again. However the journey was intense and full of new experience. Likewise, it was same for this character.
Even though, I had lost the digital files, I still had access to the handmade drawing that I had. However, she had a very complicated body structure. Thus, real fun began, when I dived into the digital platform again, I took the photo to Photoshop and made a canvas of 2000x3000(WxH) pixels canvas. I then began to trace the image with a brush having a stroke size of 9. With each stroke of the digital brush, the character gained more depth and personality. As I was already lagging behind from final deadline, I decided to make the character more simpler. Therefore, I made some changes in the lower part of the character which was tentacles and suckers. Instead of 8 tentacles, I gave my character, 5 tentacles, and also made the suckers more simpler with some basic shapes.

Step 2.
After making some changes in the outline, I started coloring the charater. I chose the colors from the color pallate. I gave each parts seperate colors. You can see the images below to get the detail idea.

Step 6.
After spending several hours, I got the final look for my character, I added some highlights and shadow to the character and the tridents. Her accessories were also colored with the help of color pallate.
Final Outcome.
By starting with a quick sketch in a sketchbook and transferring it to the digital world, I was able to unleash my creativity and give life to my vision. The character designing process took me deeper into the world of fantasy and storytelling. So, the lesson I learned during the journey was to never give up and always have faith in yourself. Let your imagination run wild, The possibilities are endless and the ocean of inspiration awaits your exploration.
Following the process of making the main pose of the character, I also made 2 extra concept art with different poses. The further process are described in my official website.
