Final Development of the Villain: "The Almighty Scorocx"

In the previous blog post, I mentioned that whatever happens have a good reason. Every cloud has a silver lining. Despite the loss of my digital files, the experience was not in vain. I came back with strongly this time. I backed up my files and kept them safe in the drive. I inspired myself to work harder as the deadline was aproaching near.

Brace yourselves as we dive into the world of this villainous character. Allow me to introduce you to my creation, a villainous hybrid of water scorpion and the crocodile. My previous creation was an imaginary character without proper research and analysis but this character I created had a greater insights. I worked hard to make a character to reflect the power and indomitable outcome.

Without further ado, let me take u through the process of making the character.
I opened Photoshop and created a new canvas of 3000height and 4500 width with the resolution of 300. After that I chose  a hard brush and started draing in my newly bought Wacum Cintique. As always, I gave this character a neutaral pose by making the neutral armature. I used some of the techniques that I learned during the term. Please see the steps below to get the idea what I did. As I was inspired by the water creatures like water scorpion and crocodile. Therefore, I made an armatrue with a tail of crocodile and later gave him horn of the scropion. The combination worked very well with the character.

After the outline was done. I came with the result like this.

Now came the part of coloring. I wanted to give this character a look of terror. I used the color pallate that I created previously. According to color theory, terror is normally represented by red colors. so I decided to make red as a main color. Please follow through the steps below to see details of my work.

After giving each parts base colors, I wanted to tweak the colors to see if there could be any other combination that can be attractive to viewers. I pressed Ctrl + U to open a new menu of Hue/Saturation. There I played with the value of Hue and Saturation and I came up with the following color combinations.

However, I quite did not like other combination as my brain already like the red combination. Therefore, I remained with the red and violet color combination.

Furthermore, I added some highlight to the character and also added some shadow.

Character with Shadow

After putting the hightlight and shadow, I was satisfied with my creation. It truned out to be more than I imagined. During the process, I was mesmarized many times by my own innovation.

Afterwards, I spend a whole day to make more poses of this character for concept art. I repeated the same process for each characters which I can not show here because it can be very booring. However you can see my further process in my official website.

Right Side Pose: Angry

Left Side pose: Fighting pose

I am sure, you guys have loved this character like I did. See you in my next blog for the Villainess, "Octavia".
