Primary Research: Pose and Anatomy
I understand the importance of having a solid understanding of poses and anatomy. My project this term is should cover a wide range of poses and anatomy. To improve my skills in these areas, I decided to do some primary research by looking at myself. I call it as a self-posing photographs. I did not have anyone who could take my photographs in my room, so I decided to take a video instead.
I placed my phone on my bed and recorded myself doing a variety of poses. I tried to make sure that I included a range of different angles and positions, including standing, walking, jumping and sitting. I also made sure to focus on different body parts, such as arms and legs.
Once I had finished recording, I went through the video and took some screenshots of the different poses. I then analysed the screenshots to get a better understanding of the anatomy and how the body moves in different positions. I looked at things like the gestures, angles of the limbs and the positioning of the joints. One thing that I found particularly helpful was being able to pause and rewind the video to study specific poses in more detail. I was also able to compare different poses side by side to see how they are different and what kind of impact that have on the overall pose.
Moreover, I chose some of the poses and distributed for my 4 characters. Here are the examples below
Dynamic Hero Poses
Dynamic Villain Poses
Overall, I found this exercise to be incredibly helpful for my understanding of poses and anatomy. It was challenging to take self-posing photographs, I would highly recommend this approach to anyone who does not have roommates or friends. It can really help in developing skills for animation .
Good post, follow up with sketches based on these poses - keep it up!
