Secondary Research: Kimberlin Library Visit

After the primary research, I recently went to the Kimberlin library with my tutor and classmates to start the journey of secondary research. It was a fun experience, and I want to share it with you.

When we entered the Kimberlin library, my heart was filled with excitement. There were many students in the first floor, we had to enter with our student cards. The first floor had many rooms and studios where students can study or group study with their friends. As our main task was to get books related to our theme in this term which is "Oceanic" therefore without delay we went to the third floor of the library.

When we entered the room, the smell of books filled the air. We split up to find books on our chosen topics. I and my tutor, searched the books related to my theme in the computer in that area. We found a book called "Creating Characters with personality" and decided to take it. Each of the books have a specific code, we noted down the code of the book we chose and began to search it. After searching the specific area, we manage to find the book. It felt like an adventure.

Everyone was quietly focused on their research so I headed straight for the section on animation and character design, feeling excited about what I might discover next without the help from tutor and the computer.

The books on one of the many shelves caught my attention immediately because the book was called Marvel Comics Encyclopedia. As a fan of Marvel Universe, I loved each of the characters of it, the book gave me a different kind of joy when I found it. When I looked into it, it was full of the history of marvel universe and their characters. There were many colorful and actions of characters and scenes. Similarly, I found 2 more books; Midori Foo's Book of Pictures and Alive Character Design. All the books were filled with valuable  information about animation. They explained the history, techniques and principles of different art forms and styles. The pictures inside were amazing, showing the incredible work of famous animators and character designers.

Alive Character Design

I learned about how to make characters move and show emotions through their expressions. The books also taught me about telling stories through animation and using special software to create animations. It felt like having a personal teacher guiding me through the process.

While I was lost in my books, I noticed my classmates were also just focused on their own subjects. We shared our excitement and talked about what we were learning. It was inspiring to see everyone exploring different topics and enjoying the experience together. The library became a special place where I could learn and let my imagination run wild. I enjoyed every moment of exploring new ideas and possibilities.

Visiting the library was a thrilling adventure. The  books I found gave me a valuable knowledge, technique and inspiration that will shape my own creative works. The joy of exploring books with others created a sense of togetherness and excitement. This experience taught me the importance of doing research to expand understanding of things we love.
